Seattle’s Child – November 2007
“Kid Picks: Kids vote for healthy favorites”
A feature story by writer Riki Mifune reported on the program since its start in March 2004. Sara Walsh, PCC Kid Picks coordinator, was quoted as saying, “The response to the Kid Picks program has been fabulous,” particularly with the addition of the PCC Kid Picks Mobile, described by Mifune as “a self-contained fruit, veggie and nutrition fair on wheels.”

“Brown bagging goes green: Packing a nutritious school lunch? It’s elementary.”
Sara Walsh, PCC Kids Picks program coordinator, supplied two lunch menus — based on products passed by Kid Picks judges — for this article on packing healthy school lunches. Reporter Paul Nyhan points out that “packing a green lunch requires balance between nutrition and getting your child not to toss the goods into a garbage can.”

PCC was voted “Best Grocery Store” by ParentMap readers in this annual survey. In summarizing reader comments, the publication said: “Readers love PCC’s high standards for fresh, natural foods and its huge selection of organic produce.”

"PCC to Host Kids' Tasting Convention"
The annual PCC Kid Picks Convention got feature-story attention in Supermarket News, a weekly magazine distributed to over 36,000 food industry subscribers. Reporter Carol Angrisani likes the Kid Picks program, as do PCC vendors who participated, such as Odwalla, Amy's Kitchen, Robert's American Gourmet and Burt's Bees. The Convention, held at The Children's Museum in Seattle on January 15, attracted 1,258 visitors.

PCC Kid Picks, a program that "introduce[s] a future generation of consumers to the array of healthy products in [PCC] stores," and the Kid Picks Mobile were featured in Supermarket News, a national publication distributed to more than 36,000 retail grocery professionals.
